ABOUT THE SERIES:
When the hit podcast You Must Remember This was tackling the erotic thrillers of the ’80s and ’90s, creator/host Karina Longworth curated a lineup of those films at the AC. Now Karina is back to present some very different “erotic” Hollywood content. This year’s season, THE OLD MAN IS STILL ALIVE, covers 14 directors who got started in the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, who were still making movies in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s in a much-changed Hollywood and culture. One of the major changes these directors had to contend with was the loosening of restrictions around sex on screen. Tuesdays this summer, come see how directors as diverse as Howard Hawks, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder and more approached a brave new world in which depictions of adultery, rape, casual sex and more were suddenly fair game for Hollywood movies.
