March 6 - March 27, 2024 Women Wednesday Series | I USED TO BE FUNNY, PARACHUTE, WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN Los Feliz 3
ABOUT THE SERIES: As part of our ongoing programming dedicated to uplifting and celebrating the work of femmes in film, the American Cinematheque is proud to present a second edition of our annual mini-festival Women Wednesday, celebrating new, fresh and exciting directorial debuts from women directors. Every Wednesday in March, join us for a screening and Q&A at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre in celebration of Women’s History month. This year’s Women Wednesday slate features unreleased films that center personal, emotional and beautiful stories from new perspectives. The fest will kick off with Brittany Snow’s directorial debut PARACHUTE, following an unemployed 20-something, Riley, just out of rehab with an eating disorder when she encounters an unexpected romance. Next is Kim Albright’s WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN, her feature directorial debut and a bold display of magical realism, set in a world where everyone’s heart is an object, and everyone is trying to dampen their emotions. The festival continues with a return of the “Women Wednesday Night of Shorts” featuring impressive debut short films from local up and coming filmmakers and a Q&A. The festival will close with Ally Pankiw’s feature debut I USED TO BE FUNNY starring Rachel Sennott, which follows a stand-up comedian struggling with a multitude of issues including her own mental health.. and a missing kid. This festival is co-presented by The Light Leaks, The Reel Champions, and Not Your Daddy’s Films. Media Partner:
