This month we’re visiting the San Fernando Valley, home of hippie housewives, adult entertainers, and mall-loving teens. Though the Valley became a high schooler’s haven with the release of Frank Zappa’s “Valley Girl” in the early 80s, homegrown majors like Disney and Warner Bros. have also produced a legacy of titles exploring the stagnant middle class that comes of age there and their particular brand of sun-soaked ennui. November’s series includes Adrian Lyne’s breakout feature FOXES, The Village Voice’s “best film of the 1990s” SAFE, Paul Bartel’s maniacal cult classic EATING RAOUL, and the four-time Academy Award-nominated BOB & CAROL & TED & ALICE.
