Paul Dano: An American Cinematheque Retrospective
Aero Theatre and Los Feliz 3

The American Cinematheque is proud to welcome acclaimed actor Paul Dano in person at the Aero Theatre for this series, including a screening of Steven Spielberg’s deeply personal coming-of-age drama THE FABELMANS, written by Spielberg and Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner.
Since his Independent Spirit Award-winning debut in Michael Cuesta’s L.I.E. at 17, Paul Dano has starred in dozens of hit films and theatrical productions. His remarkable talent for portraying characters with complex motives and morals was firmly established in Paul Thomas Anderson’s THERE WILL BE BLOOD opposite Daniel Day Lewis, and has developed through celebrated performances in films like LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, LOVE & MERCY, and SWISS ARMY MAN. As a directorial debut, Dano’s WILDLIFE was met with enormous critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
In THE FABELMANS, Dano plays Burt Fabelman, the successful, scientific father of a young man harboring dreams of becoming a filmmaker. The film will be a double feature alongside THE BATMAN, in which Dano confounds Robert Pattinson’s lead (and the audience) as one of the most chilling Riddler’s to ever take the screen.
