Elle Fanning: An American Cinematheque Tribute

In the decade since her breakthrough role in SUPER 8, Elle Fanning has become one of the most sought-after actors in film and TV. Whether as Sleeping Beauty in big-budget fantasy MALEFICENT, Jesse in Nicolas Winding Refn’s thriller THE NEON DEMON or Violet in Max Minghella’s music-driven drama TEEN SPIRIT, Fanning’s performances immediately draw audiences in to varied onscreen worlds.

Her work in ongoing series is just as dazzling. Starring as Russian ruler Catherine the Great in THE GREAT, she earned SAG, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit nominations, and her performance in new limited series THE GIRL FROM PLAINVILLE is also drawing raves. On both of these Hulu programs, Fanning also plays a key role behind the camera as executive producer.

The American Cinematheque salutes Elle Fanning in a two-night tribute at the Aero Theatre, with the star in person for a Q&A in between screenings of an episode of THE GREAT and TEEN SPIRIT.
