“As the American Cinematheque begins to celebrate it’s 40th Anniversary, the AC is proud to present its first series in New York City, Bleak Week: New York presented in partnership with the historic Paris Theater. This year, over 10,000 people will attend Bleak Week: Year 3 in Los Angeles, proving that audiences are hungry for such powerful and confrontational cinema. Many people thought they were alone in their desire to explore films with uncomfortable truths, but the truth is they are part of a large community, and now this community comes together on both sides of the country.” – Grant Moninger, Artistic Director at American Cinematheque

This inaugural New York edition of Bleak Week, hosted by American Cinematheque’s Grant Moninger, Artistic Director, and Chris LeMaire, Senior Film Programmer, along with the Paris Theater, features 25 films, including seven 35mm prints and eight unique in-person appearances by Isabella Rossellini, Paul Schrader, Matthew Modine, Ari Aster, Kenneth Lonergan, J. Smith-Cameron, Eliza Hittman, Jerry Schatzberg and more!
