ABOUT THE FILM:

“His job was busting junkies. His mistake was loving one.” Directed by Henry Hathaway whose career began in 1932 with HERITIAGE OF THE DESERT and included such classics as TRUE GRIT, NIAGARA, CALL NORTHSIDE 777 and HOW THE WEST WAS WON, bookends his filmography with this unsung blaxploitation vigilante film. Based on the novel Face of Night and first released as HANGUP, the film follows rookie cop, Ken Ramsey (William Elliott) as he seeks revenge on the dealer who pushed heroin on his high school crush (Marki Bey) and turned her into a junkie. Bleak but with fast paced action, it features everything you would expect to see and more, plus appearances by character actors Michael Lehrner as the drug dealing pimp, Pepe Serna (CAR WASH, THE JERK) and Fredd Wayne, known for his numerous portrayals of Benjamin Franklin.
