ABOUT THE FILM:
Demons, witches, and sorcery abound in this “remix” of Benjamin Christensen’s infamous 1922 pseudo-documentary on the history of witchcraft. Featuring narration by William S. Burroughs and a jazz score performed by Jean-Luc Ponty, Anthony Balch’s 1968 re-edit of the silent classic is a psychedelic meditation on the supernatural and the images that have shaped society’s interpretation of magic and the mysterious feminine archetype associated with it.
