ABOUT THE LECTURE “FILM & MUSIC” (approximately 90 mins) Filmmaker Peter Greenaway lectures on his collaborations with music composers, such as John Cage, Philip Glass, David Lang, Michael Nyman, Louis Andriessen and Marco Robino. The presentation features excerpts from his feature films and rare shorts. ABOUT THE FILM Director Peter Greenaway’s stylish and beautifully rendered murder mystery is set on a rural English country estate in 1694. An artist (Anthony Higgins) is hired to draw landscapes for a wealthy couple; in its meticulous detail, the young man’s art unwittingly captures evidence of foul play. An elegant, multilayered puzzle that goes way beyond a simple “whodunit” to explore class and sexual politics. 35mm print from the Academy Film Archive, courtesy of cinematographer Curtis Clark FORMAT: 35mm DISTRIBUTOR: Zeitgeist Films
