ABOUT THE FILM:
When a hardened big city police detective roughs up one too many suspects, he is sent to assist in a small town investigation–but finds himself on dangerous ground. As Jim Wilson (Robert Ryan) searches for the murderer of a small town schoolgirl, he’s dogged by the girl’s father Walter Brent (Ward Bond), who wants to find–and shoot–the killer. But Jim finds much more than he expects when his investigation leads to a small cabin in the mountains and a kind-hearted young blind woman (Ida Lupino) who’s protecting her mentally handicapped brother–the murderer–in this film noir drama of a man who seeks justice but finds redemption.
