- 85 MINUTES
- DIRECTED BY: ERROL MORRIS
ABOUT THE FILM:
Errol Morris’ breakthrough feature documentary explores the ins and outs of the pet cemetery business through interviews with the workers who bury and exhume domestic animals and the owners who pay for their services. Alternately touching and absurd, philosophical and grotesque, GATES OF HEAVEN famously inspired Les Blank’s 1980 short film, “Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe.”
“GATES OF HEAVEN remains in a category by itself, unclassifiable, provocative, tantalizing… this 85-minute film about pet cemeteries has given me more to think about over the past 20 years than most of the other films I’ve seen.” – Roger Ebert, 1997
