ABOUT THE FILMS: “La Ricotta,” 1963, 33 min, Italy, Dir. Pier Paolo Pasolini. In what may be the most memorable segment of the omnibus film RO.GO.PA.G., Orson Welles stars as a director attempting to make a film of the crucifixion of Jesus—all while he, the cast and the crew behave in the most un-Christlike ways imaginable. Pasolini’s biting critique of the state religion earned the filmmaker a (suspended) four-month prison sentence. FORMAT: DCP LUX ÆTERNA, 2019, Yellow Veil Pictures, 52 min, France, Dir. Gaspar Noé. Béatrice Dalle and Charlotte Gainsbourg are on a film set telling stories about witches. Technical problems and psychotic outbreaks gradually plunge the shoot into chaos. A Queer Palm nominee at Cannes, this featurette was made under the aegis of fashion company Saint Laurent and pushes Gaspar Noé’s (ENTER THE VOID, CLIMAX) talent for dazzling visuals to its limit.
