ABOUT THE FILM: Charting Rowlands’s transformation as “Mabel” from endearingly kooky to bleakly incoherent (and back again), John Cassavetes’s A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE is perhaps the most important examination of mental health ever captured onscreen.
