Internships

We currently have two separate archive internships, but they can be potentially combined upon request. The Preservation Internship is a combination of remote with optional in-person work whereas the Annotation Internship is fully remote.

 

PRESERVATION INTERNSHIP:

Description:

We are currently cross-referencing our entire 40 years of American Cinematheque programming from our own database (ACER) to our audio/video and photo catalogs. We also need assistance with editing the length of our obsolete media files, organizing our digital photo collection, and tracking annotations of all AC events.

 

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with consolidating ACER with our audio/video and photo catalogs
  • Edit obsolete media files (audio & video)
  • Organize our digital photo collection
  • Track annotations on multiple catalogs and save to our internal server
  • Attend one weekly archive meeting (if combined with Annotation Internship)
  • 10 hours per week minimum is required

 

ANNOTATION INTERNSHIP:

Description:

Thanks to a seed grant from the HFPA, we have digitized archival Q&As, recorded at the American Cinematheque from 1985 – Present, so we can build a best-in-class content library. Now, we need assistance annotating our collection of historic interviews with individuals who have worked in all aspects of filmmaking (directors, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers, costume designers, camera operators, etc.)

 

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Summarize the recorded content, create time markers, and compile lists of tags relevant to the respective files
  • Input all data into archival spreadsheet
  • Attend one virtual weekly archive meeting
  • 10 hours per week minimum is required

 

Intern Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a University, pursuing a degree, with a GPA of 3.5 or greater
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Required critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Strong interest in film and film history is a must
