American Cinematheque Frequently Asked Questions

Are American Cinematheque screenings open to the public?

All screenings are open to the public unless they are advertised as members-only screenings. Interested in becoming a Member? Click here!

What film formats do you show?

Aero Theatre – 35mm, 70mm, DCP 

Egyptian Theatre – 35mm, 70mm, Nitrate, DCP

Are there standby lines for sold-out shows?

Yes. The AC runs standby lines for all sold-out shows. We do not oversell shows.

Can I get an autograph from the special guests?

No, unless advertised as book signing or special autograph session.

Do you have parking lots or validate parking?

No, we don’t have parking lots nor do we validate parking at either theatre. Check out the Egyptian and the Aero Theatre pages to learn more.

Can I bring in outside food or beverages?

No.

What time should I arrive for a show?

Please always plan to arrive early! We have custom pre-shows to enjoy in our theaters while you’re getting settled into your seat with concessions.

I purchased tickets in advance. What do I need to bring with me?

For PRE-RESERVED TICKETS: Please have your order confirmation email open on your mobile device.  Our staff will check your mobile ticket at the door. You can also print your confirmation at home and bring with you.

I purchased multiple tickets and my party is arriving separately to the show.

If you purchased multiple tickets on Fandango and your party is arriving separately, we suggest that the person holding the Fandango receipt obtains printed tickets from the Box Office and leaves these tickets along with other guest’s names so they can pick them up. The Fandango confirmation cannot be scanned multiple times.

I have a ticket voucher. Does it work for a premium ticket/special event?

No. Ticket vouchers only can be exchanged for our regularly priced programs, and cannot be used for shows that have already sold out. You can only exchange your ticket voucher at the Box Office on the day of the show.

How do Double Features or Marathons work?

When you hold a ticket to a program featuring more than one film, you can attend any or all of the films during a multi-film program. However, if a show has already begun, late seating is solely at the discretion of management.

Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Note: Start times of features are approximate as to include introductions as well as intermissions and Q&As at certain programs.

How do free events and special member screenings work? Am I guaranteed a seat with an RSVP?

For all free American Cinematheque events and special member-screenings, we use Eventbrite.com. Our website will carry a link to RSVP to the event.

RSVP for all free events or special member screenings does not guarantee seating. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

How can I buy a ticket online?

Go to Fandango.com or click on the event’s page to be linked to Fandango.

Screenings that take place offsite and not at the Aero or Egyptian Theatres are sold through Brown Paper Tickets. 

Please visit the American Cinematheque’s calendar to find tickets to any event listing.

How do I get a refund?

There are no refunds or exchanges from the American Cinematheque’s box office for tickets purchased on Fandango.com. Refunds are only available through Fandango.com and prior to showtime. Please refer to the Admission Information and Theatre Policies.

Yes. Please call the box office and leave a message for management.

What time does the Box Office Open?

Box Office opens 90 minutes before showtime. Subject to change. The box office is only open on days when there is an American Cinematheque program taking place there. 

 

What time are doors?

Doors are 1 hour prior to showtime. Subject to change.
