Deborah Kerr brilliantly plays a repressed governess convinced that ghosts haunt the mansion and grounds of her innocent young charges (Martin Stephens, Pamela Franklin). Jack Clayton’s gothic psychological thriller was inspired by Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw and adapted with the help of Truman Capote.
