ABOUT THE FILM: The woods are anything but what the title suggests in Teresa Sutherland’s exceptional debut. Park ranger Lennon, played by the incredible Georgina Campbell, begins work in an isolated outpost in the wilderness. It’s clear that Lennon’s motives are less professional than it appears and it’s not long before she finds herself embroiled in the mysteries of the forest, including that of a missing walker. Soon past, present and future collide as Lennon comes face to face with the nature of what’s in the woods. Using its nature setting to its max advantage, Sutherland crafts an unnerving tale that is not only scary but also emotionally astute, exploring guilt and conscience through the prism of cosmic horror.
