The American Cinematheque’s yearly campaign to raise 35 MOVIE PALACE MEMBERS, representing $350,000 in annual donations. The campaign supports the American Cinematheque’s dynamic film programming and best-in-class theatrical presentation.

Programming

The AC’s dynamic year-round programming offers immersive film experiences, in-person filmmaker conversations, and uniquely curated series with over 1,000 public events per year. Donations support:

  • Live Guests: Flying in filmmakers from around the World such as Béla Tarr, the Dardenne Brothers, Leslie Harris, Abel Ferrara, Peter Greenaway, Claire Denis, Lav Diaz, David Cronenberg, and many more.
  • New Voices and Independent Cinema: Screening diverse films from around the world that would otherwise not have a theatrical home.
  • Rare Prints: Shipping in rare film prints from around the world.
  • Film Festivals, Tributes and Series: Producing dozens of tributes, series, and events as well as annual festivals such as Bleak Week, Ultra Cinematheque 70mm Festival, Beyond Fest, PROOF Short Film Festival, Noir City: Hollywood, Latin American Canon of Cruelty, and more.

Theatrical Presentation

The AC prides itself as being a filmmakers’ exhibitor, with the ability to screen all film formats, from rare Nitrate to 70mm to 6Track Mag and more, as well as State-of-the-Art Digital. Donations go towards:

  • Projectors and Equipment: 35mm and 70mm reel-to-reel film projectors are no longer manufactured. Fundraising goes to replacement of rare parts, maintenance of vintage machinery and the acquisition and storing of replacement projectors.
  • Conscientious Experts: Providing best-in-class presentation with skilled Union Projectionists who ensure films will look and sound their best on screen.
  • International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) Membership Testing prints, repairing prints and keeping the projection booths to FIAF regulations in order to screen archival prints from around the world.
