ABOUT THE FILM: Acclaimed filmmaker Haile Gerima is set to release his long-awaited ten-hour documentary BLACK LIONS, ROMAN WOLVES: THE CHILDREN OF ADWA, which chronicles the struggle of Ethiopian patriots during the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. The documentary delves deep into the 1896 Battle of Adwa, where Ethiopian forces, led by Emperor Menelik II, triumphed over Italy, marking a historic moment of African resistance to colonialism. Featuring footage from Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Russia, as well as first-hand interviews with Ethiopian veterans, Gerima’s work explores the cultural and political significance of the victory.
