ABOUT PAVAROTTI:

Blessed with a voice of rare range, beauty and clarity, Luciano Pavarotti was one of the most iconic, celebrated and finest opera singers of the 20th century, whose unmistakable voice enthralled generations of fans all over the world. His life and artistic legacy represent a heritage of inestimable value, whose brilliance is universally recognized.

His opera performances and concerts, recordings and television appearances gained him an immense following. From his Italian debut in 1961, as Rodolfo in La bohème, until 2004 he conquered the audiences of the most prestigious opera theatres, from the Wiener Staatsoper to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, from the Teatro alla Scala to the Metropolitan Opera House, where he sang an astonishing  378 performances, more than any other singer of all time.

Since 1973, with his piano recitals long tours through many different countries, not only was he able to enchant opera fans but also to intercept and enthrall new audiences, many of whom had never listened to opera singing before. From 1984 the continuous growth of his audience led him to privilege increasingly larger spaces for his performances, venues usually intended for pop idols: the Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl, Hyde Park and Central Park. Thanks to his great communicative abilities, his charismatic, ironic, positive and sunny personality and a wise use of the media, at the end of the 80’s Luciano Pavarotti was already an icon.

In 1990  the Three Tenors Concert at the Baths of Caracalla, broadcast worldwide and seen by 800 million spectators, further increased his global fame. The live recording of the evening became the best selling classical music album of all time.

In 1992 he created the Pavarotti & Friends event, a concert taking place yearly in his hometown of Modena, which in its 10 editions hosted the greatest international stars in the world of music. All proceeds were donated to the children victims of wars and civil conflicts (Bosnia, Liberia, Guatemala and Kosovo, Cambodia and Tibet, Afghanistan…) In 2001, he received the UNHCR Nanseen Refugee Award for donating more money to this cause than any other private person. During his dazzling artistic career of 43 years Luciano Pavarotti was bestowed with 5 Grammys Awards, The Grammy Legend Award, 2 Emmys, the Kennedy Center Honors Awards, and plentiful recognitions titles and prizes, too numerous to count. Fortunately, an intense recording activity for Decca Records from 1964 to 2003 left us evidence of his exceptional artistic path.

Luciano Pavarotti’s Star is an artistic and cultural memory, a message of awareness and rebirth in the name of music, art, creativity and talent, as founding elements for a better world and for a success destined to last forever. It is our duty and honour to preserve this heritage and to pass it on to the future generations. Grazie Luciano
