ABOUT THE SERIES: The American Cinematheque is thrilled to welcome filmmaker Nancy Savoca for a special in-person tribute in celebration of a brand new 4K restoration of her 1993 indie darling HOUSEHOLD SAINTS. Also screening during the tribute and limited engagement is Nancy’s 1985 Sundance winner TRUE LOVE, 1991 coming-of-age drama starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor DOGFIGHT, and her newly restored award-winning short films ”Renata” and “Bad Timing.” With a Sicilian and Argentine background and as the child of immigrants, Savoca’s filmography explores a multitude of themes including but not limited to Italian-American family values, spirituality and Catholicism, generational differences, and womanhood. Join us in welcoming this acclaimed independent filmmaker and revisiting the classics of Nancy Savoca.
