ABOUT THE FILM: Inspired by a Leo Tolstoy short story (which was itself inspired by the Beethoven composition of the title), this sexually explicit drama from Bernard Rose measures the toll that unbridled jealousy takes on a marriage. Edgar (Danny Huston) and Abigail (Elisabeth Röhm) have been together four years and have two children, though at the expense of her career as a pianist; when she begins rehearsing a duet with a violinist (Matthew Yang King), Edgar becomes convinced that the two are having an affair.
