Since the silent era and the earliest days of medium, science fiction has remained one of the most versatile and ubiquitous genres, appearing in virtually all filmmaking countries around the world and utilizing various tropes and styles. Whether it’s to evoke wonder and hope or terror and despair, the best examples of this wide-ranging genre reveal something universal about human nature through ventures into the unknown.
