PRESS TICKET POLICIES
Thank you for your interest in the programs of the American
Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre. We appreciate your coverage. To make certain that
your requests are processed correctly and to avoid confusion at the box office, we ask
that you please follow the instructions below when requesting press tickets. Please
remember that the theatre staff does not have detailed information about your dealings
with the publicity department in the office. They are not allowed to issue press
tickets if your name is not on a list. Please do not ask them to do this. A publicity
dept. staff member is not at the theatre during every screening, therefore arrangements
MUST be made in advance. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
What constitutes an assignment? Did you or are you writing about the
film series you are requesting tickets for. The issue is not whether or not you have press
affiliations, it is whether or not you have a SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT to cover the event you
are requesting tickets for. Meaning that a story will appear or has appeared containing
coverage of this film/discussion, etc.
Press Tickets must be arranged in advance through the office in writing. There are NO
SERIES PASSES. Please send a fax to the American Cinematheque office to the attention of
Margot Gerber, 323.461.9737. Your fax must be received 24 hours in advance of a screening
you wish to attend. The office is not open on Saturday, Sunday or legal holidays. We will
not pick up messages or process faxes on these days. All requests for Saturday or Sunday
shows must arrive no later than 6:00 PM on the Thursday prior.
One ticket per film will be issued per film, per media outlet. Additional tickets can be
purchased at the box office for $9 general admission (student, senior and member rates
also apply). Your tickets for each film will be available the night of the screening.
Tickets are not mailed and cannot be picked up in advance. It is advisable to pick up your
tickets at least 30 minutes before the show time. Tickets not picked up 15 minutes prior
to the screening will not be held in the event that the show is sold out/close to
selling out. Press tickets do not guarantee seating.
Your fax MUST be on letterhead from the media outlet you are assigned to write,
photograph or broadcast for. (E-Mail is only acceptable if you have an established rapport
with the Cinematheque press office.) Verbal requests will not be honored. Your fax MUST
include the following):
- The name of the OUTLET (publication, channel, website, radio station, or ???). If your
outlet is not widely known in the United States OR YOU HAVE NOT COVERED OUR EVENTS BEFORE,
please give a brief description. For example: Photographer Lois Lane from Kryptonite photo
agency will shoot for The Daily Planet newspaper at the screening of SUPERMAN (Part
of the Cinematheques Tribute to Super Heroes in the Movies) on Tuesday, March 5th.
Lois Lane would also like to request an interview with Superman. You must list ALL MOVIES
you want a press ticket for. THERE ARE NO SERIES PASSES.
- The name of the actual photographer, crew members, etc. that will attend the event and
as much contact info. as possible (local phone, fax, address, e-mail).
- The name of the assignment editor, photo agency contact, etc. and as much contact info.
as possible (phone, fax, address, e-mail).
- The date when your coverage will appear (for
example: Our February 2006 issue or the magazine coming out on Monday, March 5, 2006)
Arrangements can also be made to see screening cassettes in our office prior to the
public screening. We will love you to death if you give us advance publicity and we will
worship you if you send us tear sheets when your article appears.
Requests that do not follow the above guidelines will not be processed.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please call Margot Gerber at
323.461.2020, ext. 115.
