Famous Monsters of Hollywood Founder Forrest J. Ackerman Remembered

ForryAckerman.jpg (11188 bytes)

The Forrest J. Ackerman Memorial will be held at the Egyptian on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Details. Forrest J. Ackerman was a dear friend of the American Cinematheque and a frequent patron. He purchased a few rows of seats in the auditorium and named them for his friends and idols of the silver screen. Next time you visit the theatre sit in for Boris Karloff's or Forry's "seats" for a treat - you'll find the plaques on the seat backs. Champion of Hollywood Preservation Remembered

Robert_Nudelman.jpg (23776 bytes)

Robert Wood Nudelman, 52, a legendary figure in the fight to preserve Hollywood’s heritage, passed away at his father’s home in Tuscon Tuesday. Ever present at meetings and hearings in the Hollywood community for 30 years, Nudelman is often credited as a driving force behind the restoration of landmark theaters and other buildings in Hollywood, spearheading a renaissance of the once-blighted area. Photos of You at the Egyptian Wanted for Myspace Gallery

We've noticed a lot of people taking photos of themselves in front of the Egyptian Theatre over the years and some of the poses are really quite original!

We'd love to see your photos and then we thought... "wouldn't it be cool to have a gallery of them on myspace... and wouldn't it be cool if it were the world's largest collection of photos of people at the Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood's most historic, still-standing movie palace..." Its certainly what theatre founder Sid Grauman would have done if myspace had existed in 1922. He was a master showman and always did everything BIG. Just look at our theatre!

So click below and add your photo and comments (where you are from, the date of the photo and anything else you'd like to say about that day). We hereby open our gallery to the world on this 3rd day of August in the year 2006!
