Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN (AND YOUR MAMA, TOO), 2002, IFC Films, 105 min. A very sexy and surprising road movie from director Alfonso Cuarón (GREAT EXPECTATIONS), Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN is set in a completely un-stereotyped Mexico where two hilariously foul-mouthed teenagers (brilliantly played by Gael García Bernal from AMORES PERROS and Diego Luna) set their sights on seducing an "older woman", 28-year old beauty Luisa (played by noted Spanish actress Maribel Verdu). Together, the three journey across Mexico searching for a mythical beach called "Boca del Cielo" (Heaven’s Mouth) – and along the way, make some very painful and revealing discoveries about their own destinations in life. (Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN will be released on March 15^th by IFC Films.)

SOLO CON TU PAREJA (LOVE IN THE TIME OF HYSTERIA), 1990, 90 min. Alfonso Cuaron’s first film as director, SOLO CON TU PAREJA is a scathing black comedy of sexuality in the age of AIDS. One of Mexico’s finest actors, Daniel Giménez Cacho, stars as an advertising copywriter who can’t find sexual satisfaction until he falls for another man’s woman.

A Night At The Egyptian With … German Documentarian Hartmut Bitomsky

B-52, 2001, Cofilm/Big Sky Films, 122 min. Dir. Hartmut Bitomsky. Infamous as the nuclear bomber from Kubrick’s DR. STRANGELOVE, the B-52 has, for over five decades, been a mainstay of American military might – longer than almost any other weapon in U.S. history. Award-winning German documentarian Hartmut Bitomsky (REICHSAUTOBAHN, THE VW COMPLEX) approaches the subject with sober, almost clinical precision, using a wealth of archival footage and interviews with B-52 pilots and crewmembers to create an indelible portrait of this complex machine, and its equally complex role in world politics. This evening is co-presented with the Goethe Institut – German Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Join us for two of the finest swashbuckling films ever made, one classic and one modern! Prior to the screening, Robert Goodwin, sword master, and members of the Action Actors Academy will demonstrate and speak on the history and comparative styles of fencing from the early 16^th to the early 19^th centuries.

Based on William Goldman’s wonderful, tongue-in-cheek fairy, THE PRINCESS BRIDE stars Cary Elwes as the dashing Westley, who is forced to fight off the villainous Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) and Count Tyron (Christopher Guest, from SPINAL TAP) to save his beloved princess, Buttercup (Robin Wright). A sheer delight from beginning to end, featuring marvelous sets (courtesy of production designer Norman Garwood) and high-spirited supporting performances by Billy Crystal (as Miracle Max), Carol Kane, Peter Falk and Andre the Giant.

SCARAMOUCHE, 1952, MGM (Warner Classics), 115 min. Dir. George Sidney. Terrifically entertaining Hollywood costume adventure starring Stewart Granger as a dispossessed nobleman who’s forced to disguise himself as a clown named "Scaramouche" while he tries to learn enough fencing skills to take on France’s greatest swordsman, Mel Ferrer. Famous for its nearly 7-minute sword duel, the longest (and probably the best) ever captured on film!
