Co-Presented with Women in Film Our fourth annual program looks at short films that have female protagonists and female issues. Among other topics, the films examine: sexual issues, ageism, career crossroads, romantic musings, unborn souls and so much more. Funny, painful, beautiful, smart and sexy. Sound like a woman you know? Wednesday, November 14 - 7:30 PM Augusta’s "Operation: Trouble" (3 min.) One episode in a four-part female homage to Ian Fleming’s clever blend of espionage, technology and sex. L.A. Premiere! Sheila Sofian’s "A Conversation with Haris" (6 min.) Animated images illustrate a poignant and disturbing interview with a "wise beyond his years" 11 year-old Bosnian immigrant sharing his experiences of war. Marie Regan’s "Traveler" (13 min.) Funny, quirky look at the loss of one love and the new relationship that blooms in its place. US Premiere! Susan Roether’s "Facts of Life" (16 min.) Funny, mock sex education documentary narrated by Michael York. Vilmos Zsigmond (d.p. on CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND and MCCABE & MRS. MILLER) produced and shot this comic romp. "Gabrielle" (15 min.) Beautiful, powerful film about an unborn soul’s dilemma to be born or not. L.A. Premiere! Candy Kugel’s & Vincent Cafarelli’s "It Was Nothing At All" (6 min.) This animated musical piece muses on why we sometimes mourn more for objects than relationships. Dominic Cianciolo’s "Jane" (12 min.) A burned-out screenwriter, frustrated after years of dead-end projects and thwarted expectations, packs up her beat-up Toyota to leave Los Angeles. L.A. Premiere! Felicity Morgan-Rhind’s "Donuts For Breakfast" (15 min.) A heartbreaking tale of the negative effects one person can have on a child. A spirited Q & A will follow with several of the filmmakers, including Augusta ("Operation: Trouble"), Sheila Sofian ("A Conversation with Haris"), Marie Regan ("Traveler"), Susan Roether ("Facts of Life"), Stephanie L. Jones ("Gabrielle") & Dominic Cianciolo ("Jane"). (After party at an offsite location to be announced the evening of the program.)
